When to Use the Stainless Steel Version

Choose the 302 stainless steel version when corrosion resistance is critical or carbon-steel fasteners aren’t suitable:

• Coastal, marine, or high-humidity environments with salt exposure
• With aluminum, copper, or zinc panels and flashings, where a carbon-steel screw could cause galvanic corrosion or staining between dissimilar metals
• With weathering steels such as Cor-Ten® or ASTM A606, whose protective patina and runoff will rapidly corrode standard fasteners
• In contact with preservative-treated (e.g., ACQ) lumber, which accelerates corrosion of standard fasteners
• Where building codes, project specifications, or manufacturer warranties require stainless fasteners

302 stainless is non-magnetic and offers excellent long-term corrosion resistance. As a piercing-point screw, it is intended for wood or thin metal up to 20 gauge.
